* Young horse
ground work/ponying
* Starting and Foundation Development
* "Problem" horses ... mental/emotional rehabilitation
* Trail miles, Exposure and Conditioning
Combining ground work, ring time and lots of trail
miles into the typical program, horses are exposed to a great variety of natural and
man-made obstacles. Connection, relaxation/softness, and confidence
are key elements. A happy, yet willing horse is the goal.
I believe that we
all, horses and humans alike, have talents, gifts and ways of
expressing that are entirely unique to the individual. Allowing the
space and time for a safe, mutually respectful relationship to
develop, trust and
confidence grows. It is through noticing and
encouraging the positive responses that we set the stage for a horse's
willingness to engage with us in progressively more advanced
"training". Rapport is the constant against which success is
measured; lack of tension, softness, and desire to connect. Our
responsibility as riders and leaders is in developing a mindful
interaction encompassing fine awareness, sensitivity, focus, clarity
of intention, flexibility, and presence.
In appreciation to the needs of the horse, there is a minimum
3-month time frame to foundation development. Owners are STRONGLY
encouraged to participate in lessons with their horse, as a strong
level of commitment is necessary to develop a successful
partnership.
